Chandeliers, often ornate, with dozens of lamps and intricately cut crystal prisms, have traditionally symbolized wealth and status. Hema Upadhyay constructs her “Loco-Foco-Motto” chandeliers out of treated combustible fiberboard and matchsticks, using a material that is highly flammable, she creates an environment of anxiety, tension and danger.
