Ju Ming

Taiwan

Ju Ming was born in Taiwan in 1938. He is one of Asia’s most prominent contemporary artists, creating a vast array of sculptures. Much of his work can be viewed at the 12+ hectare Ju Ming Museum in Chinshan, Taiwan. Ming’s training as a woodworker is evident in his bronze Tai Chi series, as he prefers hewing to modeling in creating his works. Ming's Tai Chi series is his most famous collection of work, which is "made up of larger than life bronze figures that bristle with movement and energy, communicating not just the physical, but also the spiritual aspect of the ancient practice to which the artist is devoted" (Brown). http://www.juming.org.tw/juming-en/facejuming_en.html.
