Bill Reid

Canada

Bill Reid was born in Victoria BC in 1920, the son of a European descended father and a Haida mother. Widely considered to be the most influential First Nations artist of our times, Bill Reid has work permanently installed in the Museum of Anthropology at UBC (Raven and the First Man), at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. (The Black Canoe) and at the Vancouver International Airport (The Jade Canoe). His work has also been memorialized on the Canadian twenty-dollar bill. http://www.billreidfoundation.org.
