Marcus Schaller

Germany

Marcus Schaller comes from a small village in Germany. His early influences come from church buildings, music and art. Schaller’s interest in foundry work and sculpture was influenced by the economic conditions in East Germany where there were many abandoned industrial areas. He pursued this interest, working in old forges in Germany to combine his early interest in text with earth elements, especially metals. Marcus Schaller was chosen to represent Germany at the Venice Biennale.
